Penn Commercial is pleased to have arranged the successful letting of the Ground Floor retail premises at 26-32 Carr Street, Ipswich – the former Poundland – to Ipswich Bazaar Ltd on a 25-year lease, acting on behalf of Carr Street Estates Limited, for use as an international food supermarket.
The retail premises of approximately 2,419.55 sq m (26,044 sq ft) is located in one of the main throughfares of Ipswich town centre, with a prominent frontage and high pedestrian footfall.
The premises will be used as a multi-cultural food supermarket, with internationally-themed aisles of produce, to cater to a diverse range of communities and cuisines.
The new supermarket will feature a 14-metre-long Halal meat counter, a fresh fish section, a bakery and an 80-seater restaurant, with a staffed crèche area, so that parents can enjoy a break, with their children being cared for safely and securely.
The new store is set to create 50 new jobs on its opening – expected to be in mid-June – but is looking to grow these staff numbers in due course.
Ariful Islam, Director of Ipswich Bazaar Ltd – who has lived in Ipswich for 14 years – said:
“I am pleased to open Ipswich Bazaar to cater to everyone’s needs in Ipswich. I want this to be a supermarket where everyone and anyone of any nationality can come and get their day-to day grocery needs.
“Ipswich town centre has suffered since Covid-19, and I believe that setting up Ipswich Bazaar will bring, not only job availabilities for people, but a reason to visit the town centre also.
“I own a transport company, which is staffed by over 100 people. I want to create job opportunities for people and use my ability to manage into my new shop. Not only do I want this to be just a supermarket, but I am also providing an Indian-Turkish restaurant, where all families are welcome, with complimentary on-site facilities for children. We will be providing 10% discount for any NHS staff and the Police force.”
Joe Stern, Director of The Glenpath Group, owner of Carr Street Estates Limited, added:
“We would like to express our sincerest gratitude on behalf of the Directors. Penn Commercial’s exceptional efforts in securing this tenant have been commendable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better service.”
Paul Keen, Senior Associate at Penn Commercial, commented:
“We would like to wish Ariful and his team the very best of luck with their ‘world of food’ supermarket. What a splendid idea to cater to Ipswich’s multi-cultural community.”
The new supermarket will be open from 8am to 11pm, seven days a week.
