Hard Ball Caribbean Smokehouse opening in Ipswich at 24 Lloyds Avenue

Penn Commercial has helped an Ipswich entrepreneur, Rasheedi Jacob, on his culinary journey, ‘fulfilling his destiny’ by opening his very own Caribbean restaurant at 24 Lloyds Avenue, in the heart of Ipswich town centre.

Rasheedi, who used to co-own Carib Bar and Grill in the town, has now branched out on his own to launch new venture, Hard Ball Caribbean Smokehouse, with assistance from Penn’s Robin Cousins, acting on behalf of client, Barsham Securities Limited.

"I am from Jamaica and think that Caribbean food is the most diverse in the world," says Rasheedi.

"I've always wanted to open my own restaurant and, after working as a chef for the past 10 years, it feels as if I have fulfilled my destiny.

"The restaurant will capture the feel of Jamaica and has been decorated to feel like you are in the Caribbean. There will be a grassy area and swing chairs, too."

Customers will be able to sample authentic Caribbean food, including Curried Goat and Jerk Omelette.

Hard Ball Caribbean Smokehouse will also be launching Jerk Sushi, believed to be the only dish of its kind in the Suffolk region.

The 2,424 square feet restaurant is large enough for 120 customers to be seated at any one time.

"We've got enough space and the facilities for formal event hire, and want will be available for weddings and parties, too," says Rasheedi.

Hard Ball Caribbean Smokehouse will be open seven days a week, and will hosting its official Grand Opening on Saturday 7th October 2023.
